After the sap has been boiled down, there are many possibilities for what maple syrup can be made into. Of course, the most common are maple cream and maple sugar candy. Granulated maple sugar is another possibility. It is made much the same way maple sugar candy is by boiling the maple syrup at a higher temperature, however, instead of pouring it into molds to make maple sugar candy it is turned into a granular form.
Granulated maple sugar is a great addition sprinkled on cereal, ice cream, buttered toast, or in coffee or tea. In addition, it can be substituted for white cane sugar in recipes for a hint of maple flavoring.
